Winter Wonders...(Chorus Calendar and News Updates)
What an exciting time of year!
Dear Chorus Students and Families,
First of all, a HUGE congratulations to the Chorus for their outstanding performance with the San Francisco Opera Guild on Tuesday, November 27. It was a fantastic and fun time! Special thanks to the students who took the time to learn speaking parts at home. Your work paid off! Many of the chorus members commented on how much they enjoyed the music, the Opera singers, and the student actors. Some chorus members even planted their own "claque" in the audience (ask a chorus member what that vocabulary word means...). What a special day!
This Thursday, there is an optional field trip with Stanley's volunteer/service program, Opportunity Knocks. Opportunity Knocks has an annual trip to the Lafayette Manor Convalescent Home to sing Christmas and Hanukkah songs. They have invited the Chorus to join them after school from 3:00-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 13. Healthy snacks will be provided after school and then as a group, we will walk to the home to visit the residents.
Next Tuesday, December 18, we're opening up our classroom for a special preview to our Winter Concert. During first period from 8:30-9:00 a.m., we've invited the staff from the Lafayette School District to come and hear the Chorus sing. It is informal, but the chorus members have been asked to wear their Stanley Chorus sweatshirts.
Then on Wednesday, December 19, we will be presenting our Winter Concert in the Stanley Gym. Call time is at 7:00 p.m. with our performance starting at 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Dress code is concert black and white: a nice white blouse or button down shirt with black pants or a knee-length or longer black skirt. The festive music from the Chorus and Bands and will help to get you ready for the holidays!
Lastly, on Friday, December 21, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., the Chorus along with the Bands and String groups will present a Winter Concert for the Student Body in the Stanley Gym. This concert is a little more casual, so the Chorus can wear their Stanley Chorus sweatshirts. Holiday hats are approved for this concert only.
Please remember to drink lots of water and fluids, to eat your fruits and veggies (like we sing about for warm-ups, "I like to eat, eat, eat apples and bananas..."), and to get good restful sleep, as we have a very busy end of 2007. All singers are important in our Chorus and we want everyone to be healthy and with us for our upcoming concerts.
Thank you for your support. What an amazing year so far and the best is yet to come! I wish you all the merriest of holidays and a very Happy New Year! See you at the concerts!
All the Best,
Miss Klier
