<p><br />The Concert at the Res is an <em>optional</em> performance this year for members of Concert Green, Gold, and Symphonic Bands.&nbsp; It is a fun, casual affair.&nbsp; You are not required to stay for the entire afternoon.&nbsp;&nbsp; You may come when Stanley is performing and then leave. (WE WILL PERFORM FROM 1:15 TO 2:00PM, but you need to be there by 12:45 for a sound check.) However, you are encouraged to stay and enjoy the other groups - Acalanes, Bentley, and the Rossmoor Big Band!&nbsp; Food and drinks are available to buy or you may bring your own picnic.&nbsp; Please sign up in the Band Room if you plan to play.&nbsp; Thank you for your participation in this civic affair.<br /><br /></p>

<p><br />As always, I am looking forward to this fun and
educational event and hope that you are, too.&nbsp; We have a challenge - to
play the best concert of the year. I encourage&nbsp; parents, relatives, and
friends to be in attendance when we perform on Saturday, May 10th. The festival is free and open to the public.<br /><br />The total time
commitment for each student will be approximately 2 1/2 hours.&nbsp; This
time frame allows for each Stanley musician to hear and evaluate at
least 2 other choruses, in addition to their own group warm up,
performance, sight clinic, and pictures.&nbsp; Think of it in terms of an
all day swim meet, basketball tournament, etc.&nbsp; It is to each student
musician’s advantage to listen to as many groups as possible.<br /><br /></p>
<div align="center"><strong>GENERAL INFORMATION:</strong></div>
<p><br />EACH STUDENT IN CHORUS IS TO PROVIDE THEIR OWN TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM CMEA<br /><br />CONCERT DRESS IS REQUIRED FOR THE PERFORMANCES.&nbsp; <br />Boys:
Dark pants, shoes and socks (no tennis shoes), white shirt and dark
tie.&nbsp; Girls: White shirt(WITH SLEEVES), dress shoes, nylons or dark
socks, dark PANTS or LONG, dark skirt – that means well BELOW THE
KNEE.&nbsp; SHORT SKIRTS ARE INAPPROPRIATE AND A DISTRACTION TO THE AUDIENCE
and ADJUDICATORS.<br /><br />Unfortunately, storage areas will not be available.&nbsp; ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS NEED TO GO WITH THE GROUP FROM WARM-UP TO
PERFORMANCE TO CHORUS CLINIC TO PICTURES - TO HOME WITH YOU.<br /><br />YOU MAY WISH TO BRING A SNACK AND WATER WITH YOU.</p>

final matinee performance will crescendo at the <strong>Acalanes Performing Arts Theater</strong> featuring the Contra Costa County

multi-generational approach with opening student band <strong>The Bentley Jazz Group with original Tower of Power horn player, Mic
Gillette</strong>. Celebrating the Big Band Era of Jazz, the sweet sounds of the
30’s and 40’s will ring true in the halls of the <strong>Bentley School Performing Arts Theater.</strong><span>&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></p>

Jazz and Blues stylist <strong>Jamie Davis </strong>will
perform<strong> with his trio </strong>combining his
full deep baritone voice with that crucial element for a singer:
believability.<span>&nbsp; </span>Davis, the headlining
vocalist with the <strong>Count Basie Orchestra</strong>
from 2000 to 2003, will debut in Lafayette for the first time at the Bentley
School Theater after an afternoon workshop for local student musicians at
Stanley Middle School. Opening for <strong>Jamie
Davis and his Trio</strong> will be Lafayette’s <strong>Bob
Athayde</strong>, and his award-winning <strong>Stanley
Jazz Messengers</strong>, a group of students from the 6<sup>th</sup>, 7th, and 8<sup>th</sup>
grades of Lafayette’s Stanley Middle School.</p>

<p><strong><span>Saturday, March 8<sup>th</sup></span></strong><span> – The <strong>Wayne
Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet</strong>, will be featured for a spirited performance
highlighting his arrangements </span>with Brazilian and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Wayne's name is synonymous with Bay area
Latin/Funk jazz music. A multi-faceted arranger and composer, he has been
credited as producing work for acts like Celine Dion, Angela Bofill, Chris
Isaak, Earth Wind and Fire and Whitney Houston to name a few. Opening the
evening will be the <strong>2008 Folsom Jazz
Festival</strong> winners, <strong>Acalanes High
School Jazz Ensemble </strong>directed by Rick Meyer.</p>
